If you love the game of volleyball and want to continue loving the game, DO NOT play for Lauren. Lauren is a prime example of a coach playing for personal gain. After some success in the 2021, Lauren refuses to make any changes to her failing program and ways because “it worked for her once.” She would put players against each other in team meetings, blame players who didn’t play for losses when her star players weren’t playing well, and repeatedly made comments about how her players were lazy, uncommitted, and would be better if they “listened to her.” The biggest problem with that, is one day she would say X and the next day it would be Y, and then another day Z. There was no way to please Lauren because she only ever focused on the negative. She is manipulative, lied about players that quit, and her assistant coach and graduate assistant are not any better. The assistant and GA are young, and gossip about “team drama” out at the bars with other student athletes. These two would also ask personal questions, share our answers with Lauren, and then Lauren would get ANGRY that we were sharing personal information with people we should respect. Lauren’s style of play and IQ are outdated, her communication is wishy washy, she holds things over your head, and she will blatantly lie to you in recruiting visits. 0/10 would never play for her, and unfortunately I never played again after playing under her and losing my love for the game.

Lauren, while relatively knowledgeable about the game of volleyball, is a manipulative coach who believes that she is always right. Unfortunately, her pride often gets in the way of the team's success. She will only hire staff who agrees with her and her methods, and she often pits team members against each other in ways that are not healthy. Now, I understand that you have to be tough to play college sports, but I saw many players crumble mentally after playing for her for one season. She had brief success, but now it seems that she is unwilling to make changes to her failing program because she is too proud to admit she was wrong. In the 2022 season, she had 7 players either quit or transfer. I would not recommend anyone who loves the sport of volleyball to play for this coach. She may seem normal at first, but she is sneaky and manipulative.
